Translated from DutchA freelancer (ZZP) is a way of working, not a legal entity. A sole proprietorship is the legal entity under which most freelancers are registered at the Chamber of Commerce. In practice the terms are used interchangeably.
Sole proprietors are not required to file annual accounts at the Chamber of Commerce. However, it is advisable to prepare them: for your income tax, for banks when applying for financing, and for your own insight. TaxMate prepares the annual accounts as standard, included in our package.
If your partner works in the business, you may be eligible for the co-worker deduction or you can set up an employment contract. TaxMate advises you on the most tax-advantageous arrangement for your situation.
Generally, a BV becomes attractive from a profit of around €100,000 to €150,000 per year, due to the lower corporate tax rate. TaxMate monitors your results and proactively advises you when a change of legal entity becomes financially attractive.
